Weekend Recap

Brentford 3–1 Man Utd
It was a night to remember for the home fans, and one to forget for United. Brentford went into the break 2-1 up after an end-to-end first half. United had a golden chance to level with a penalty but missed, before Brentford struck again. Four yellow cards capped off a fiery contest as the Bees ran out 3-1 winners.
Atletico Madrid 5–2 Real Madrid
The Madrid derby lived up to every bit of hype. Four goals flew in before half-time, along with a disallowed strike and rising tensions. Atletico took control after the restart, adding three more while both sides racked up seven yellows between them. In the end, Atletico crushed their rivals 5-2 and claimed city bragging rights.
Newcastle 1–2 Arsenal
St James’ Park erupted when Newcastle led at half-time, but Arsenal weren’t done. The visitors battled back to equalise, setting up a tense finale. Then, in the 96th minute, centre-back Gabriel stepped up with a dramatic winner, securing a huge 2-1 comeback victory for the Gunners.

Midweek Madness: Europe’s Heavyweights Collide

TUESDAY

Chelsea v Benfica
Chelsea welcome Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge, this time as Benfica’s manager, in a clash where both sides are chasing their first UCL win. The Blues have struggled recently, with only one win in their last five — against third-tier Lincoln — alongside defeats to Brighton, Man Utd, Bayern, and a draw at Brentford. However, Chelsea can take heart from their unbeaten record against Benfica: three wins and a draw, which resulted in an extra-time victory.
Benfica have hit the ground running under Mourinho, winning two and drawing one, scoring six and conceding just two. Star forward Pavlidis continues to impress, netting five goals in five matches with two assists. Both sides will be eager to make a statement, with Chelsea aiming to stabilize their campaign and Benfica looking to continue their unbeaten run under Mourinho.

STAT: Jose Mourinho is winless in his last 7 matches against former side Chelsea.
BET TIP: Chelsea to Win, Both Teams to Score, Joao Pedro Anytime Goalscorer.

WEDNESDAY

Monaco vs Man City
Monaco suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to what many see as a potential surprise package in this year’s UCL, Club Brugge. However, the home side can take comfort in their strong home record, having won 5 of their last 6 Champions League matches at Stade Louis II. On loan from Barcelona, Ansu Fati has been a standout, scoring 4 goals in his last 4 matches.
Man City appear to be regaining their characteristic form, most recently cruising to a 5-1 victory over Burnley at the weekend. However, Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled away in Europe, losing their last 4 Champions League away matches. Can they break that streak against Monaco?

STAT: Haaland has scored in each of his last 5 appearances for City, netting a total of 7 goals.
BET TIP: Man City to win, Haaland to score 2 or more.
Barcelona vs PSG
This is a blockbuster clash! Spanish champions Barcelona host French champions PSG in just Matchday 2. Barcelona remain unbeaten this season, winning 7 and drawing 1 of their 8 matches. They’ll also be buoyed by a strong UCL home record, having lost only 1 of their last 12 home European fixtures.
PSG, meanwhile, are led by a former Barcelona player and manager, which could give them valuable insights into their opponents. The French side started their campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win over Atalanta. The last time these two sides met, PSG triumphed 4-1—but that was with Mbappé in the squad. A win here would make PSG the first team ever to secure three consecutive away victories against Barcelona.

STAT: PSG can make history by winning three successive away games against Barcelona.
BET TIP: Barcelona to win, over 2.5 goals, and both teams to score.
